La Voute Stay. An 18th century hand restored vaulted cellar.

What to Expect

The Vault

The first room of La Bastide du Magnan to come back to life — an 18th-century vaulted stone cave, transformed into a place to stay.

The story

This is where the renovation story began.

Before it was a place to sleep, it was a silk farm's cellar — cut into stone, built for storage, forgotten for decades. I kept what the room already knew how to do: hold its own temperature, stay cool through the heat of a Gard summer, stay quiet. Everything added — the travertine floor, the raw lime plaster, the black tapware, the aged wood door — was chosen to sit inside that logic rather than fight it.

La Voute is the first of two gîtes planned for La Bastide du Magnan. A concrete vat room, atypical architecture, will follow as a small gallery for the pieces and objects that pass through it.

The room

  • One vaulted stone bedroom, private courtyard

  • Travertine floors, raw lime plaster walls, black matte fixtures

  • Designer open kitchen — induction hob, oven, Nespresso, moka pot

  • Private shaded courtyard — jute sail, teak table, deckchairs

  • Sleeps 2 — built for a slow, quiet stay

Reconnect with calm and escape the noise of everyday life.

Arrive & Discover

Let yourself in whenever you arrive — the key waits in a lockbox at the door, code sent ahead of your stay. No fixed check-in time to work around; come late, come straight from the road, and start the evening the moment you walk through.

Check-In

From 16.00

Day Two

Enjoy a fully fitted kitchen

Everything you need for a proper meal, nothing you don't. electric hob, oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, freezer and a Nespresso alongside a stovetop moka pot for the purists — set into a designer open kitchen with bamboo fronts built for the room rather than dropped into it.

Day Three

Sit & Relax

A private courtyard, shaded by a jute sail through the heat of the day. A teak table for two, a deckchair for the hours in between — the kind of stillness that's hard to find once summer fills the village below.
