Solid Oregon pine, built up from tapered staves and shaped into a single seamless-looking cone — this is the piece Jørgen Wolff is remembered for. The story goes that it started as a wastepaper basket in his own workshop north of Copenhagen; turned upside down, it became a lamp, and instantly stood out since solid wood had never been used as a shade before. Made in a limited run of around 2,600 between 1958 and 1960, the Conus appeared throughout Danish interiors of the decade and has held its place ever since.
